Safeguarding Information

Allerthorpe School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We ensure that consistent effective safeguarding procedures are in place to support families, children and staff at school.

Our priority is to ensure our school remains a safe place for learners, staff, visitors and all members of our school community and that everyone understand the measures in place to protect our learners as well as where to access support or help if they are worried about something.

What is Safeguarding?

Everyone at our school has a duty of care towards the welfare and safety of the children in our school.

Safeguarding means:

Protecting children from abuse and maltreatment.
Preventing harm to children’s health or development.
Ensuring children grow up with provision of safe and effective care.
Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

What to Do if You Need Help or Have a Concern

You can talk to any adult in the school about anything. Do not keep your concerns to yourself; nothing is too small or too big.

If a child is in imminent danger please call the Police on 999 or The Local Authority Front Door Number 01482 395500 (outside office hours 01377 272410). Meet The Safeguarding Team

We work closely with East Riding Safeguarding Children Partnership (ERSCP), following all statutory advice. Our school adheres to “Keeping Children Safe in Education” and Guidance for Safer Working Practice for Adults who work with Children and Young People in Education Settings. Every member of staff at our school holds a current Safeguarding Child Protection Training Certificate, which is renewed every three years. Staff are trained in recognising signs of abuse and know the procedure to follow if they have concerns about a child.

We operate a continuous cycle of additional training in areas including, Prevent, British Values, Child Sexual Exploitation and Online Safety.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. All adults working in school are required to complete a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) Enhanced Check.

CEOP

CEOP helps any child or young person under the age of 18 who is being pressured, forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity of any kind. This can be something that has taken place either online or in ‘the real world’, or both. The CEOP Safety Centre has clear information and advice on what can be reported to CEOP, the reporting process and what will happen if you do decide to make a report.
