Allerthorpe Special Educational Needs School took part in National CPR Week on 16th October 2025, supporting learners to develop an age- and ability-appropriate understanding of life-saving skills and personal safety.
Throughout the week, learners engaged in carefully adapted activities designed to introduce the importance of CPR and what to do in an emergency. Sessions focused on building awareness, confidence and reassurance, helping learners understand how adults and emergency services keep people safe.
The activities were delivered in a calm, supportive environment, ensuring learners could participate in ways that felt comfortable and meaningful for them. Taking part in National CPR Week also supported wider learning around health, wellbeing and community responsibility.
Sarah Grove, Principal of Allerthorpe Special Educational Needs School, said:
“It’s important that our learners feel informed and empowered in a way that is appropriate to their individual needs. Taking part in National CPR Week allowed us to explore life-saving awareness safely and sensitively, while building confidence and understanding around emergency situations.”
Participation in National CPR Week reflects Allerthorpe’s commitment to inclusive education that prepares learners for real-world experiences, supports personal development and promotes wellbeing within a safe and nurturing setting.
