Allerthorpe School Celebrates National Tree Week

On 23 November, learners at Allerthorpe Special Educational Needs School took part in activities to celebrate National Tree Week, engaging with nature and exploring the importance of trees and the environment.

The day’s activities encouraged learners to learn about different types of trees, understand their role in local habitats, and explore ways to care for the environment. Through hands-on experiences, including planting and observing trees, learners developed practical skills alongside a deeper appreciation for nature and conservation.

Sarah Grove, Principal of Allerthorpe Special Educational Needs School, said:

“National Tree Week is a wonderful opportunity for our learners to connect with the natural world and understand the value of trees in our environment. Activities like this encourage curiosity, responsibility, and a sense of pride in making a positive contribution to nature.”

Participation in National Tree Week reflects Allerthorpe’s commitment to outdoor learning, environmental awareness, and inclusive education, ensuring all learners have meaningful experiences that combine skill-building with enjoyment of the natural world.
