On 28th November 2025, learners from Allerthorpe Special Educational Needs School took part in decorating a tree for the annual Pocklington Church Christmas Tree Festival, held at All Saints’ Church from 29 November to 11 December 2025.
This much-loved community event brings together local businesses, charities, and organisations, all sponsoring and decorating a tree to celebrate the festive season. Trees are provided by Pocklington Town Council, with a small sponsorship fee, and participants are encouraged to decorate creatively using battery-operated lights for safety. Once the festival concludes, the trees are returned to their sponsors to enjoy.
The Allerthorpe School learners embraced the opportunity to contribute to the festival, designing decorations and preparing their tree to represent the school and its community spirit. The event promotes creativity, teamwork, and engagement with the local community, allowing learners to take pride in their work while celebrating the season.
Beth Anderson, Events and Burials Officer for Pocklington Town Council, said:
“Firstly, I wanted to thank you for participating in this year’s Christmas Tree Festival. It was lovely to see so many trees, and we have received a lot of compliments towards the trees from both visitors and residents in Pocklington.”
Allerthorpe School’s participation reflects its commitment to inclusive, community-focused activities that allow learners to contribute meaningfully while enjoying festive celebrations.
