Allerthorpe School Learners Enjoy Festive Christmas Trip to Harwood House

Learners from Allerthorpe Special Educational Needs School enjoyed a festive Christmas trip to Harwood House on 16th December, as part of the school’s end-of-term celebrations.

The visit gave learners the opportunity to experience the magic of the festive season in a new environment, supporting confidence, independence and social development outside of the classroom. Staff carefully planned the trip to ensure it was accessible, calm and enjoyable for all learners, with plenty of support throughout the day.

Christmas trips form an important part of the school’s wider approach to enrichment, helping learners build positive memories, develop life skills and engage with seasonal traditions in a meaningful way.

Sarah Grove, Principal of Allerthorpe Special Educational Needs School, said:

“Our visit to Harwood House was a really special experience for our learners. Trips like this allow them to explore the world beyond school in a safe and supportive way, while enjoying the excitement and joy that comes with the festive season. We were incredibly proud of how well everyone engaged with the day.”

The Christmas trip reflects Allerthorpe’s commitment to inclusive enrichment opportunities that promote wellbeing, confidence and joyful learning experiences for every learner.
